Go!!! The funds we raised last year – $50,000 – are on their way to the New Dawn School to help give the opportunity of an education to students. We’re so excited to partner with New Dawn, which is truly ensuring that the students receive a quality education that is given by trained teachers and that meets the benchmarks for success that the students need to continue in their education. Pray for the school as it is in a land dispute to gain property that will allow them to add a resource center. The building is paid for, it’s the land that still needs to be released.

Tomorrow night at the HA Factory at 8pm, we’re co-hosting a FREE dance party and art show called Dance Your Art Out! You can get started with the Art Crawl in downtown Nashville (around 5th and Union) and then head over to Dance Your Art Out for some great music, beautiful art and free beer. Also, you can leave some cash that will be donated to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. We’ll also be raffling off a couple of awesome FUL Bags. Don’t miss our next event! See you there!
With less than a week remaining until Nashville Prep opens their doors, they are excited to begin the journey to college with their inaugural class of 5th graders. Over the next three days, Nashville Prep will be holding the final set of parent and student orientation sessions. But for these sessions to be successful, they need your help! Specifically, we are looking for some volunteers.
The orientations will be held today (Thursday, July 28) and Friday, July 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, July 30 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. All sessions will be held at the school, at the Avon Williams Campus of Tennessee State University at 330 10th Ave N.
As you all know the goal of GBitNB is to encourage our generation to give back in any way they can. To be honest, we especially love when giving back meets shopping!
Tomorrow is the perfect day to get the girls together and go shopping for back to school wear, new fall work styles, or in my case a dress for my dreaded High School Reunion, at my favorite local boutique Blush!
All day Saturday, July 23rd you can stop by the Blush boutiques in Belle Meade or Brentwood – bring any unopened school supplies and receive 10% off your entire purchase. All of these supplies will be donated to the Martha O’Bryan Center in East Nashville.
As more and more young adults in Nashville are flocking to the hip epicenter of East Nashville, it’s nice to know that we can give to a great organization in the area. The Martha O’Bryan Center’s mission statement is to empower children, youth, and adults in poverty to transform their lives through work, education, employment and fellowship. This organization meets people where they are and spurs them to reach their full potential.
Personally I think this is an exciting organization and look forward to finding new ways to give back to them in the future!
For a list of the supplies the families are in greatest need of, please visit Blush’s facebook page.
Remember our friends at eXile International from The Red Party? We know you do! Their new video made a huge impact on our friends and supporters that evening. Here is another chance to support their work in the Congo at “When ART Meets HEALING” on July 29th. We hope to see you there!
Join us for an Evening of Art and Live Music Featuring:
- Silent Auction: Unique original art and photography by African and local artists
- Jewelry handmade by survivors of war
- Musical performances by special guests (stay tuned!)
- Select pieces from eXile’s Poza Project: art exhibit by former child soldiers
The evening will also feature a screening of our newest short film: a drama written and performed by former child soldiers we work with in Congo, showing their abduction, training, and rescue.
The event will also include live paintings for sale by some of our featured artists. Bethany and the team will be there to share about eXile’s latest trips and projects in Uganda and Congo!
Enjoy tapas, creative desserts, and wine!
*Featuring New Local Artist: Morgan Fite*
Tickets on sale at the door for $15
Proceeds will benefit the work of eXile international, providing art and expressive therapy to former child soldiers and war-affected children in Central and Eastern Africa. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit 1Hope Orphan Ministry of Otter Creek Church.
**This fundraiser is specifically benefiting a new rehabilitation center that eXile is beginning in Congo for former child soldiers, called the Peace Lives Center, as well as, a needy baby orphanage in Uganda. Please consider donating to our work here if you are unable to attend: http://www.exileinternational.org/sing.html OR feel free to invite others!! **
