Several Ways to Help Nashville’s Homeless

April 13, 2011

Nashville is absolutely a city that cares about its people!  We’ve talked about People Loving Nashville, who not only feed the homeless but spend valuable time getting to know them on Monday nights in the city.  We’ve talked about this Saturday’s Project Photo Connect, where you can come hang out and enjoy music while the homeless are treated as special guests and have their portrait taken.  (We will be there lending a hand!)

Now there’s another way to support efforts to help the homeless: Project 615.  From their website…

Project 615 is a charitable organization that is doing it’s best to raise awareness for the homeless community in Nashville, TN. We raise money by selling our apparel and host benefit concerts to be able to give back  to our homeless brothers and sisters.

We have partnered with a local homeless shelter called Set Free Nashville (located downtown Nashville a few blocks from LP Field) that houses 30-40 homeless men at one time. There they receive a bed, shower, 3 cooked meals and an opportunity to receive rehabilitation, not only physically but spiritually through Jesus Christ.

Not only are their t-shirts awesome, but they are having a fundraiser on Sunday, April 17th at 7:30.  $10 at Exit/In. Check it out!

Volunteer Call: Project Photo Connect

March 30, 2011

We Giving Back girls are volunteering for this amazing day called Project Photo Connect, on April 16th, at the Hall of Fame park downtown.  We’re putting a team together who can help set up, tear down, and whatever is needed in between.  If you’re interested in being a part of our team for a day, whether for one shift or all day, email givingbackisthenewblack@gmail.com.

Here’s a little more about Project Photo Connect:

Project Photo Connect is a VIP event for our homeless friends from 1-4 p.m. on April 16th at the Hall of Fame Park, 121 Fourth Ave. South.  Every VIP guest will receive an individual photograph taken at an outdoor photo studio in the park.  Professional local photographer Alvin Pearman believes “a photograph has the potential to inspire through beauty, indite through revelation and transform through conviction.”

The entire community is invited to enjoy an intimate concert by local musicians and celebrate a day in the park while our VIP guests get their picture taken and printed on location.

The Key Alliance is partnering with Pearman Photography to host this unique opportunity for our homeless neighbors in Downtown Nashville.  This is a good-weather event (due to sensitive photographic and musical equipment, the event will have to be cancelled should it rain).
